Was the installation difficult or did it install without a hitch? Hope this helps someone else that is curious about pushing the envelope with this old game.Įdited by psychoslaphead, 22 March 2015 - 04:25 PM. Hat's off to the engineers that designed these things. I wish I could just turn that portion of the HUD off, but can't find a setting to do that.įWIW I've been a dedicated PC system builder/overclocker, but this Mac is the the most impressive piece of kit I've experienced. The only drawback is that the game always displays the "Level Up" marker (when I don't need to level up). Posting screenshots to show off the detail isn't possible - they are 32mb each! I posted some rescaled and compressed shots in the appropriate section here, but they don't really do justice to what you see on the screen. It's like making the jump from VHS to BluRay on video. And the visuals - well let's just say you haven't seen the game until you've seen it at high rez. When you whip your view around with the mouse in a big city crawling with custom HD body and texture NPC's it doesn't even pause at all and will make you dizzy (it helps to have 4gb VRAM, 16gb RAM and a 1tb SSD).

It definitely is better to set ENBoost to NON-compressed mode, much less of the slowdowns. It drops to 40's-50's briefly when texture loads happen. Most of the time the game is at the (capped) 60fps limit.
SKYRIM FOR MAC 2017 64 BIT
By tweaking setttings in EnBoost to take advantage of the 64 bit hardware and OS, the game now FLIES at 4k resolution. But what threw this over the top was going with latest EnBoost. You cannot see pixels, so antialiasing isn't necessary.

The game looks stunning at this screen setting. By tweaking the ini settings, I was able to get fairly reasonable frame rates and do away with the microstutter. The microstutter was present even when you stand still - you could see the pauses in running water for example. The default ini's gave a persistent microstutter every few seconds (which has been discussed extensively in the tech forums). Please note that Windows cannot run at the display's native 5k resolution of 5120x2880, but I was able to get 3840x2160 (which is 4k). I dual boot using bootcamp and Win 7 Premium (64 bit). Just out of curiosity I decided to load Skyrim on my work machine - a Retina 5k resolution iMac.
